Does it work?

--

I enjoy capturing landscapes that include abstract ideas. Sometimes it works, and sometimes not. I purposely cropped the top of my frame to minimize the sky. My idea was to make the viewer uncomfortable so that their eye would travel from the top RH corner diagonally to the bottom LH and out of the image. Yet the uncomfortable juxtaposition of the cliff and absence of sky would compel the viewer to return to the starting point.

Forum Venue Change

It appears that the forum for users to exchange ideas has changed. If this means Facebook has been abandoned, I applaud the change. I no longer feel safe there, and I've often felt intimidated or insecure when visiting.

Printing

--

The lesson on printing our of CLR was very informative. I'd like to suggest more. This is the comment I tried to post there but system wouldn't accept...

I have varying degrees of success with printing using a professional print company. They provide ICC profiles for the paper I choose, which I've imported into Photoshop. Fortunately, they allow me to get proofs for free; only postage is required. It can be an iterative process for each image. I wish there were a more efficient and predictive way of printing my images. I have an iMac monitor, Retina Display, that I've calibrated with a Calibrite tool. It helps, but sometimes, even after checking the Gamut warning, colors are off. I wonder if you have an interest in doing that one or two-day class for a fee, of course? I am thinking about upgrading to XDR. I wonder if that will help with predictability or just add more complexity.

Printing Outside of Lightroom and Photoshop

--

Hi Ben,

I am looking for the best way to prepare grayscale images for a paperback book that will be sent to a self publishing company - Wastelandpress.net

The paper used with be thin cream colored paper that is used in most paperback books today. I want to know how to prepare my images for the best possible look from the reader.

Thank you!

Kim

Just testing to see if it's any different logged in. Doesn't seem to be.

Is this community working at all... this is my title

--

I want to hide my name, but I'm not logged in at the moment, so it makes sense that it will ask. I need to use Outseta to hide this page and or links to it for those who are logged out.

Testing out heading... why do I only see H2-4 and not H1 in the lower right? (this is H4)

Nice that it automatically reverts to body copy on the next line.

That's sweet! Will have to test to figure out maximum file size/dimensions and which file formats are supported.

How can I slide a new background behind a glass object and retain the look of the glass so I can see through it to a different background than the original?
