High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography allows you to produce a single image that contains the brightness range found in three or more individual exposures that vary in brightness. It is very useful when shooting under the mid-day sun when contrast can be rather extreme. A panorama will allow you to combine multiple images that overlap in content to create a single image that displays a much wider view than would fit into a single image. If you merge multiple raw files (as opposed to using JPEGs) into an HDR or panorama, then the end result will retain most of the special qualities of a raw file.
