One of the best ways to get comfortable with using the Curves adjustment is to work on Black & White images since it forces to think about how brightness and contrast are affected without being distracted by color. In this lesson I work through multiple images to show how I use Curves to refine the tonality of my images. I hope it helps to get you to truly feel comfortable and understand Curves.
NOTE: Some Windows users have reported issues accessing the video playback controls.
