This lesson gives you an in-depth look at the new masking capabilities that were added to Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw in October of 2021. We explore each of the masking tools available, how their overlays work, how to combine them to create much more complex masks and use them all to optimize a single image.Note: The downloadable practice image for this lesson contains snapshots that will allow you to switch to the finished version of this image if you so desire. Also, the image has been compressed into a .zip archive. You will need to double-click on the file after downloading to extract the original image before attempting to use the image in Lightroom or ACR.
NOTE: Some Windows users have reported issues accessing the video playback controls. While we're working on the issue, here's a Temporary Workaround: Click "Introduction" in the table of contents to the right of the video and then immediately click within the video to give it focus. After doing so, use the spacebar to play/pause the video and the left/right arrow keys to scrub forward or backward within the video.
