In this lesson you'll learn the basics of using Layer Effects which are found in the FX pop-up menu at the bottom of the layers panel and on the left side of the Layer Style dialog box. In the process, you'll see how to apply effects such as Strokes, Drop Shadows, Gradient Overlays, Bevel & Emboss and Patterns to your image. You'll also see how the combination of the Shape Tool, Patterns and Layer Effects is very versatile when creating graphics in Photoshop. Once you have some effects applied, I'll demonstrate how you can show/hide them, and copy/paste or drag/drop them between layers and use the Styles panel to quickly apply them in the future. There will be a future lesson that gets deeper into all these topics and covers many of the other layer effects that are available in Photoshop.
NOTE: Some Windows users have reported issues accessing the video playback controls. While we're working on the issue, here's a Temporary Workaround: Click "Introduction" in the table of contents to the right of the video and then immediately click within the video to give it focus. After doing so, use the spacebar to play/pause the video and the left/right arrow keys to scrub forward or backward within the video.
